About Bordeaux Wine Month
Bordeaux Wine Month is the UK’s largest activity for wine merchants. Don’t miss your chance to Join the Bordeaux Crew and be one of the 100+ merchants taking part this September.
Now in its eight year, with a proven track-record of boosting sales, Bordeaux Wine Month is a key part of Bordeaux Wines’ drive to support the wine trade and is a great way to engage with customers old and new.
- You’ll be provided with a comprehensive merchandising pack (to a value of £100) to decorate your store, educate your customers and use as rewards or prizes in competitions. In keeping with Bordeaux’s sustainable ethos you’ll be able to select which merchandise you wish to receive In short, you can choose which merchandise is most useful to YOU and your customers
- Facebook, X, Instagram or YouTube? Our digital toolbox is bursting with assets to help you promote your wines online
- Boost your sales – 99% of participating merchants last year told us that their campaign resulted in additional Bordeaux wine sales – an average of over £1,965 per store over the two week period
- All participating merchants will receive £250 per store to help to cover their expenses
- You’ll be in with a chance to win a trip to Bordeaux, or one of several £250 funds to go towards new Bordeaux listings
- Applications are only open to UK independent wine merchants – if you have multiple stores please ensure you register each one to receive multiple POS packs and payments
Bordeaux Wine Month is the perfect opportunity to increase interest in Bordeaux, boost your profits, and importantly have some fun with how you present your Bordeaux wines. There really is nothing to lose and a lot to gain, so perhaps it’s unsurprising that 100% of last year’s participating merchants are keen to be involved again this year.

Please note registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For the past five years we have had to close registrations early due to high interest, so please do register early.
What are you waiting for…?
Participation Criteria
The criteria for taking part in Bordeaux Wine Month in 2025, remain the same as previous years.
All you need to do is run a high-visibility promotion featuring Bordeaux wines in-store (and online as appropriate), using the visibility pack that we’ll provide you with and ensuring that the following criteria are met:
- Run a 2 week activation during September
- Host a tastings for 45-60 participants (in total across all tastings) during your campaign (this could be virtually or in-store)
- Ensure consumers have the opportunity to taste at least 4 Bordeaux wines, one of which is a dry white (ideally priced between £7 and £30)
Please note if you have more than one store, you’ll need to register them independently to receive separate merchandise packs and payments for each store (you’ll be given the option to register multiple stores within the application).
How we'll support you
Promotional Materials
We’ll provide you with a comprehensive merchandise pack to help educate and reward your consumers – which will include items such as maps, posters, bottle bags, pens, aprons, tissue paper, corkscrews and more, to support your in-store campaign. In order to reduce our impact on the environment, we are giving you the opportunity to select which items you’d like to receive – these can be selected within the registration form up to a value of £100 per outlet!
Digital Toolbox
We’ll also share a toolbox of digital assets including logos, banners, GIFs and images so that you can customise your website, newsletters and social media channels. Bordeaux revealed a brand new identity last year – it’s eye-catching, modern and very red. We hope you love it as much as us.
Inspiration Hub
Taking inspiration from effective campaigns over the past 7 years, we’ll give you ideas on how to bring your promotion to life both off- and online, encourage new customers in-store, and how to use the digital toolbox and promotional materials successfully.
Media Campaign – NEW 2025
This year, merchants participating in Bordeaux Wine Month will be joined by a range of wine bars and restaurants to extend the reach of the campaign within the on-trade. Together this will be supported by a huge media campaign, featuring Bordeaux Wines on 65 bus shelter screens in London, and a geo-targeted digital campaign to drive customers into your stores. Finally, don’t forget to tag us @BordeauxWines and #BordeauxWineMonth on Facebook, X and Instagram, so that we can promote your involvement too.
Funding
We understand that running a promotional campaign involves expenses and investment, which is why were are happy to support you with £250 for your participation, in return for your feedback.
Feedback
We have run this promotion over the past seven years, and each year we closely review your feedback to ensure the following year incorporates more of what you want/need, and less of what you don’t.
We can only improve this campaign with your thoughts and feedback, and are always grateful for those who go above and beyond to suggest new ideas. With that in mind, and in order for us to process the £250 support payment, we kindly ask for the following information from you:
- Completion of a short evaluation form stating number of attendees, consumer feedback, changes in perception etc
- A minimum of 5 images of your promotion; including Bordeaux merchandise in situ, customers participating in a tasting (if applicable), and a display of Bordeaux wines

Best Independent Merchant Campaigns (x 5 prizes)
- Winning Campaign: Nominate a member of your team to enjoy a 3 day trip to Bordeaux to discover more about the region, taste extraordinary wines, and meet some of the innovative winemakers and négociants leading change in Bordeaux (2026)
- 4 x prizes of £250 towards new Bordeaux listings
NB The winner will be selected based on the most effective approach to this year’s promotion, whilst taking into account the use of social media, newsletters, digital assets, merchandise displays and promotional activities. Following on from last year, we will be paying particular attention to promotions that include sustainable initiatives or environmentally friendly methods, as well as those showing less conventional wines i.e. whites and Crémants.
Timeline
- Thursday 10th July 5pm: Deadline to register your interest for participation
- End of July: We’ll be in touch to confirm your involvement and to share further details about the campaign
- August: We’ll be busy packing up and sending out your bespoke merchandise packs
- September: Bordeaux Wine Month – merchants across the UK will be working alongside you to promote Bordeaux, with masterclasses, food-pairing dinners, virtual training, in-store tastings and more. Bordeaux Wines’ dedicated social media team will be ready to support you at every step to help promote your involvement
- October: On receipt of images and a short evaluation form, we’ll issue payments and announce winners for Bordeaux Wine Month’s prizes!
